ABBConcise grew to become the largest distributor of contact lenses and accessories to independent eye care practitioners in the United States, with over 15,000 accounts.
The company was created through the combination of our portfolio company Con-Cise LLC with ABB Optical, a collaboration which yielded real synergies and resulted in an enterprise that grew to $500 million in annual revenue on our watch.
Most of ABBConcise’s growth resulted from organic initiatives, including a new third party logistics service offering for lens makers, development of managed care organization channel partnerships, and creation of a comprehensive procurement web site for eye care professionals. RLH’s ideas and support, directly and through one of our strategic advisors who served as a close counsel to senior management, were instrumental in ABBConcise’s consistent long-term record of revenue and profit growth. We were honored that the company’s CEO invited our strategic advisor to remain involved with the company even after our investment was realized.
